we're home!!!

after months of renovation and waiting and impatience, we've finally moved into our new home on 2 dec 2005.

it's not fully finished yet. there are still some minor painting works to be done. things to transport over, putting away our stuff in their new spots, things to buy, lights to fix, and so on and so forth.

on the day that we moved in there were still so many last minute things to do. air conditioning installation, astro (satellite tv) installation, water heater installation, sofa bed deliveries, fitting the main toilet's lighting, major cleaning and dusting and vacumming and scrubbing, putting up the makeshift curtains (i had to use my pareos), patching up with cement a hole that came about when we were trying to drill in our curtain rods, and the list goes on.

all these were done ON THE DAY WE MOVED IN!!!

by the time we went to bed, it was almost morning. it was most definitely worth it, we're finally home.

next up, christmas tree shopping.

got these two from a nice chap named vincent. vincent goes round town everyday, walking tens of miles with a big bag of soft toys and stacks of stickers trying to get people to donate some cash in return for some toys and stickers. he does this to supplement the income to run a shelter for homeless children.

my hubs and i see 'buy' stuff from vincent a few times a month, and this time round, we bought cookie monster and elmo. our two keykeepers for our home.

we hope that it'll be blue skies always for us and our home.

we've been so busy with the whole renovation process and now with the painting (which we are doing ourselves to save some cost), we've been almost too busy to take photos and write.

the cooking and dining experience

we are extending the kitchen area and we're going to convert part of the backyard into the kitchen as well as a laundry room. at the moment, the foundation has been laid and the kitchen and laundry room walls are coming up.

as for the dining area, we're tearing down 2 walls which separates the dining area from the living room, and the one the separates it from the dry kitchen. we wanted to do that so that the dining area will be more spacious and well as brighter and better ventilated.

next: the driveway renovation.

it has begun

they've started the renovation work on our home 3 days back, on 28 sept 05.
Demolition of the wall
ooo... we're so excited!! this morning when we went to have a look see, they've already cleared the back yard and the have demolished the 2 walls that we don't need. foundation for the kitchen extension has also started.
Backyard
the tearing of the walls was done by a slim lady in her forties, and she does it with a medium size mallet. the sheer strength of the woman. wouldn't wanna mess with her.

The Beginning Of The Change

Today our contractor will be submitting our plans to the municipal council, and then they will start with the construction. They've already moved in the tools and it's like Formula 1. The cars are on the starting line and the 5 lights are on. Can't wait for all the light to be out and the race starts..
